Tumaini Hope for Children to Brighter Futures Foundation Africa - why the change?

Why We Changed Our Approach For many years, we supported a school in Kenya, helping 600 children access meals and education for around £20 per month per child. This made a meaningful difference in the short term—but over time, we saw a hard truth: it was not enough to break the cycle of poverty. Too many children were still forced to leave school early to support their families, and limited resources meant their education often couldn’t open the doors they needed for a better future. A More Lasting Solution Today, we take a more holistic approach. By investing around £100 per month per child, we support not just education, but the stability of the whole family. This ensures children can stay in school, focus on learning, and develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive. Our goal is simple but transformative: to help each child become fully self-sufficient. By addressing the root causes of poverty—not just the symptoms—we create lasting change that reaches far beyond the classroom, empowering children to build independent, sustainable futures.
